Following our April episode where Dave ran proceedings without Rob (to change things up while the weekly S10 review episodes are going out), this time Rob runs the whole shebang without Dave.
Mike Solko (last heard in our rather popular "This is the one: The DW Show Presents: Gallifrey One" special), steps in to co-host from his headquarters in sunny Southern California.
After some Series 10 chat and a listener email from @fishy_wanda that the boys discuss at length, chat turns to Season 27 and in particular the audio interpretations of it from 2011.
If you've heard the Big Finish audios, Thin Ice, Crime of the Century, Animal, and Earth Aid, you will be right at home.
If you've seen the documentary ENDGAME on the classic era Survival DVD, you will be pretty much at home here, too.
If you've read the article '27 Up' in Doctor Who Magazine #255 from August 1997, you'll be able to keep up with proceedings, too.
If you haven't done ANY of these things, you'll still likely enjoy the chat, and learn a few things along the way, but will be quite spoilt on Season 27 and Big Finish's interpretation of it.
Dare ye enter? See you inside... if you dare. Mwahahahahaha.
THIN ICE: Moscow 1967. The Doctor and Ace have arrived behind the Iron Curtain, and the Soviet Union is seeking a new weapon that will give it mastery in the Cold War. What is the secret of the Martian relics? As the legendary War Lord Sezhyr returns to life, the Doctor is faced with some of his oldest and deadliest enemies. The fate of Earth – and the future of Ace – are now intertwined...
CRIME OF THE CENTURY: The year is 1989. In London, safe cracker Raine Creevy breaks into a house – and finds more than the family jewels. In the Middle East, the kingdom of Sayf Udeen is being terrorised by Soviet invaders and alien monsters. And on the Scottish border, a highly guarded facility contains an advanced alien weapon. These are all part of the Doctor's masterplan. But masterplans can go awry...
ANIMAL: Margrave University in 2001, and Raine Creevy is enjoying her first trip into the future. For the Doctor, there are mysteries to solve: what are the alien creatures imprisoned in the science labs? And what are the true motives of the student Scobie and his followers? With enemies on all sides, the Doctor teams up with his old friend Brigadier Bambera and the forces of UNIT in a battle for the future of the whole world.
EARTH AID: Welcome aboard the space vessel Vancouver. Its mission: to guard a vast shipment of grain from Earth to the planet Safenesthome. Its Captain is called Ace. She seems a little unsure of herself. In fact, some might almost think she was new to the job. Its medical officer is called simply ‘The Doctor’, and he’s perhaps not all he seems either. When mysterious ships target the Vancouver, Ace and the Doctor are pushed to the limit. Meanwhile, there’s something nasty in the grain containers. And it’s not very happy...

Hello!
While Doctor Who Series 10 airs, our monthly shows are going to take a slightly different format. In the spirit of Doctor-lite and companion-lite TV episodes, we're going to do this episode sans Rob, and May's episode will be sans Dave. You can invent your own head canon as to who's who.
So! Welcome to Richard and Rob, both from the Goodies Pirate Podcast (and Rob is also from the 42 to Doomsday podcast), to talk with Dave about the month in Doctor Who as well as their favourite Doctor Who books, both fiction and non-fiction.
In more detail, today’s episode covers:
Listener email from David Clarke; discussion of Class.
Discussion of Doctor Who Series 10.
Mr Men Doctor Who books.
Fake news and Doctor Who.

- Revenge of the Cybermen
- Timewyrm: Revelation
- Doctor Who and the Cave Monsters
- The Doctor Who Monster Book

The Blue Box Podcast recently celebrated a milestone in its 250th episode with a four-hour-plus episode, comprising "mini episodes" of many Doctor Who podcasts from around the globe.
As long-time listeners of the podcast we (that is, Rob & Dave), provided such a mini episode for the special, based on our typical Doctor Who Show chats, which is also included for your pleasure here.
[The chat is all about how Doctor Who and Doctor Who fandom has differed in Australia, versus other countries, over the years. It seems appropriate for an internationally diverse episode...]
One thing we noticed, however, is that while we stuck to the Blue Box Podcast's instructions and deliberately didn't reference its milestone or otherwise talk about it at all, not every podcast followed suit.
So Rob decided he wanted to say congratulations too, but with Dave missing from the other end of the Skype line he struggled a bit... until deciding to call the Blue Box Podcast supremo himself, JR Southall.
What happened next? You'll have to listen to find out!

Hello! The musical episode promised last month has arrived. And no, that doesn't mean Dave's singing (as much as he'd like to)! After the usual wrap up of the previous month in Doctor Who, Rob and Dave work their way through 50 years-plus of Doctor Who incidental music, with clips, and a little help from some fantastic listeners.
In more detail, today’s episode covers:
– Listener feedback asking, "Was Pearl Mackie announced too early?"
– The return of Mondasian Cybermen.
- Class. Will it return in a second series?
- The ABC releases Series 10 trailer early.
- The Last Leg comments on the Series 10 trailer.
- John Barrowman still wants to meet the 12th Doctor on TV.
- David attends an old school sci-fi convention in Melbourne, "Con 80 - The Ultimate 1980s Sci-Fi Experience".
- New Doctor Who novels out soon featuring the 12th Doctor; The Shining Man (Cavan Scott), Diamond Dogs (Mike Tucker) & Plague City (Jonathan Morris).
- The Come-Uppance of Captain Katt by Peter Grimwade.
- Doctor Who incidental music, featuring comments from listeners Jim Cameron, Mark Smith, Kenny Davidson, John Hole, Jeff Waddell, Alastair Thomson-Mills, I'll Explain Later, Kathleen Cruikshank and music from stories including: The Daleks, Tomb of the Cybermen, The Web of Fear, The Invasion, The Sea Devils, Terror of the Zygons, The Sunmakers, The Leisure Hive, Logopolis, Enlightenment, The Five Doctors, Frontios, The Mysterious Planet, Dragonfire, The Happiness Patrol, Survival, The Movie, Doomsday, The Eleventh Hour, The Rings of Akhaten, The Wedding of River Song and more.
Thanks everyone, as always, for listening. We greatly appreciate your ears and your emails and tweets and, if you really want to make our day, why not leave us an iTunes review? See you next month...!

If you listen to Australian-produced Doctor Who podcasts that aren't the Doctor Who Show, chances are (given how relatively few there are), you're a Flight Through Entirety listener.
Here, Rob (@theDWshow) talks to Brendan Jones (@critiqaltheory) from Flight Through Entirety @FTEpodcast about the Dapol TARDIS playset and Doctor Who action figures in general.
This episode was originally a segment on the Doctor Who Show #4 (Apr 24, 2016).

One of our TARDIS Library contributors, Mike Solko, attended the annual Gallifrey One convention at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, February 17-19, 2017. Here, Rob sits down with Mike to discuss attending this year's event, as well as past Gallifrey One's and US Doctor Who conventions in general. Along the way they talk guests, cosplaying, merchandise, panels, representation, a rave where no one dances and vomiting before meeting a personal hero.
We hope you like it.

David Kitchen's back! Well, if you heard our '21 Replacements For 12' episode on February 1, you'd know that, but this is the first time in 2017 that Rob sits down to discuss Doctor Who with Dave on the flagship edition of the show.
During today's episode, they cover:
– Listener emails from John Hole and 'Kazza' which cover Children of the Dogstar; Chocky; casting a female Doctor; and whether Rob and Dave are 50th Anniversary deniers.
- Errors Department: paper with the corners cut off to make it look futuristic is a Battlestar Galactica thing, not a Babylon 5 thing. Rob's mistake.
- What Doctor Who music has stood out for you, and why? Nu Who or classic series, we want to hear it all from you. No pun intended. Email us -- hello@theDWshow.net -- or tell us on our Facebook or Twitter.
- Doctor Who Series 10: we have a release date; Missy's return and will this be her final hurrah?; the Ice Warriors return with an all-new version but will this be a great or dodgy Gatiss episode; Dave's Pearl Mackie conspiracy theory.
- Doctor Who Series 11: production has been pushed back, so we won't see it in April of 2018 as many had been expecting after we 'reset the clock' this year.
- Doctor Who news: Vale, John Hurt; Big Finish sale perhaps prefaces the retirement of CDs 51 - 125 as physical media and Big Finish chat in general - what are Rob and Dave buying and why?; the essay book Hating to Love (which we interviewed JR Southall about on an earlier episode), has been released - and Dave and Rob each have a copy; future Watching Books releases.
- Dave's adventures in the UK: meeting the Blue Box Podcast & Diddly Dum podcast crews; are podcasts replacing Doctor Who clubs in the modern day?; visiting Doctor Who locations in the UK.
- Totally Tasteless: The Life of John Nathan-Turner by Richard Marson.
- What are we watching beyond Doctor Who? Dave cites The Goldbergs and Riverdale while Rob opts for the Santa Clarita Diet.
- Some more quick thoughts on Series 10 of Doctor Who before we go.
